sitting in

  I'm not a big fan of letting people sit in spontaneously unless I know 
them. My band rehearses for hours and hours and the gigs are the payoff 
for that work. Letting strangers sit in is often baaaaaad news - 
particularly unknown harp players. Actually, people who bring harps to 
gigs and then jam along at the bar (to the great annoyance of almost 
everyone) usually aren't any good anyway. Pro players won't do that 
because they know how annoying it is.
