Who said anything about dead?

As to the snoring idea, I'm not much of a snorer, so you may be
on to something. It may well be, as you say, that whatever it is
in your soft palate/glottal area that makes you snore is also
constricting the airflow when you play with mouth closed. Your
theory that bending is caused by such constrictions is pretty
much proved by Robert Johnston' experiments.

Question is, are you stuck with this, or could some form of soft
palate yoga be applied to lift the constriction out of the way,
or are you simply blessed with an abundant and immovable whatever
it is?

I always hesitate to encourage anyone to compromise the airtight
seal on the air column, as it is likely to cuase some loss of
control, especially if a player can benefit from learning to get
rid of easily-cleared obstructions like the tongue or a closed-up
throat. However, your case shows that under some circumstances
it can be a valid solution.
