L.A. Harp Updates

Regarding the Lee Oskar/Tombo harmonicas discussion, an official statement
from Lee should be forthcoming within the next few days - hopefully before
the end of the week.

Hugh mentioned that I had not responded to the Ultimo query, but in fact I
did state a few weeks ago that an official statement would be made at the
proper time. Sorry if you missed that note, Hugh.

There is a Little Walter Harmonica Jam scheduled for the House of Blues
(Hollywood) on Nov 18 (Fri) - no further details - but it has been an annual
fest that attracts a lot of the bigger names in Harp Blues. Past artists
have included James Cotton, Snooky Pryor, Rod Piazza, James Harman, Johnny
Dyer, etc.

The next day, Sat Nov 19, Lee Oskar has scheduled another of his all-day
workshops at the Baked Potato, Pasadena. Whether you are a beginner or a
pro, there is always something to learn - playing, maintenance, tuning,
special tunings, theory, amplification, effects - or anything you would like
to learn about the Lee Oskar Harmonicas. The fee - $75 - includes a
continental breakfast, soft-drinks all day, and your choice of a new Lee
Oskar harmonica (any key) or a Lee Oskar Toolkit (with 16-page manual) and a
workshop[ book loaded with lots of valuable informarion. A great value for
anyone who may be in the area - some have even flown down in the past from
San Francisco! For more information, call (818) 441-8874, fax (818)
441-6049, or leave a message for me on e-mail. Be sure to include your
mailing address. Reservation deadline - Nov 14 - all reservations must be
prepaid. Be sure to register early, they're always a sell-out.

Southland Blues, the monthly blues rag out of Long Beach, is sponsoring it's
annual Thanksgiving Eve Harmonica Blow-down, Nov 23 in Long Beach. Scheduled
to appear: Rod Piazza, James Harman, William Clarke, Johnny Dyer and John
Juke Logan. Another great show. More details later if anyone needs it. Let
me know.
