reading music

Just want to concur with the recent recommendation of the book, "Learn
to Read Music" (1956 Simon & Schuster), by Howard Shanet.

Two other suggested books are "The Basic Guide to How to Read Music",
by Helen Cooper (1982 Putnam Publ), and "Start Reading Music", by Amy
Appleby (1992 Amsco publ).

These books offer great information for persons learning to sight
read musical notation. Often times harmonica players (especially
diatonic) may overlook this aspect of playing music. Learning to
sight read can be an overwhelming exercise for anyone just
starting out, but the books mentioned above are fairly effective in
easing this intimidation factor.
