Re: 4 questions.r

<Blues places in Santa Barbara?> Checking the latest copy of Southland
Blues (you'll probably want to subscribe to this - I'll put their info at
the bottom), there doesn't seem to be anything regular in the Ventura/Santa
Barbara area. However, you might want to ask around locally. I've heard
that Channel Island Harbor in (I believe) Ventura is now booking some blues
action.

If you don't mind the -l-o-n-g- drive into Los Angeles, there are LOTS of
blues clubs. BB Kings is in Universal City, just off the 101 Freeway.
house of Blues is on the other side of the Hollywood Hills from there.

If you like smaller places with decent local bands, about the closest to
Santa Barbara would be these in the San Fernando Valley:

The Classroom, 8333 Tampa, Northridge (TH jam)
Universal Bar and Grill, 4093 Lankershim Blvd, Universal City (SU jam)

SOUTHLAND BLUES magazine
6475 E. Pacific Coast Hwy ste 397
Long Beach CA 90803

This ought to be enough to keep you in trouble with the Missus for a couple
of days :-)

The Harmonica Store isn't discount by any means, but they do have a nice
selection of stuff, and the staff is especially helpful. If anyone in the
area is a newer player, it's definitely worth "retail" to get their help.
They conduct harmonica classes, as well as individual tutoring. When you
buy your stuff retail, you're also buying their service, much as you do when
you buy a computer from a full service dealer. If you don't need the
support, then it makes more sense to buy mail order and save the money that
goes to support a full service facility and personnel.
