RE: Harp Commander

Hi all,
Like everyone I'm glad things are running again. This is such a
valuable resource . I learn new stuff all the time, and there are many
fine players to thank.
Anyway, with a new batch of posts on the harp commander, my two cents (
or $275) on it is this:
for some of the amps I have that weren't that great for harp, this has
made them sound lots better. Last week after seeing Johnny Dyer playing
through an old blackface Super Reverb (an amp I've never been really
fond of in my own experience) I pulled out a 68 Super Reverb with stock
alnicos that I had buried in the garage and took it out to a jam. With
the harp commander it sounded lots fuller, feedback was less of an issue
and other players were raving about how good the combination was. I've
used the HC previously (and posted) with my 55 Fender Pro, a pretty
good amp to start with, and with this setup it gives me a bit more
volume before feedback as well as more bottom end with the bass boost.
I'd agree with Alan Adamson, if you don't have a decent tube amp
already I'd probably put my money there first. A very fine harp player
friend tried mine and said he would buy it but he was getting similar
results from using the preamp on his vibrato pedal and graphic
equalizer; but if you can afford it this is really a nice add-on . I
had some initial buyer's remorse at shelling out the cash for this but
I'm certainly happy with the results.
