Re: "the" GIG LIST

Smokey-Joe commended Danny and his tireless work maintaining the
Giglist for all of us by describing a gig he heard about via the list
that he'd have sadly missed otherwise; and, as well, that he was able
to sit in with the band. The fact that their style was a bit out of
his normal genre in no way casts any doubt in my mind that he made an
exciting and competent contribution to the evening's entertainment -
smo-joe, as he opined about this band he went to see, has skills that
have probably deserved wider play for a long time. ;)

That said, I was alerted to local "incoming" in my own hometown last
night that I was able to confirm via Danny's list, thus managing to
attend, along with my keyboardist son [who got his money's worth -
the band has a mighty fine keyboard player] and his bandmate, a
harmonica player.

I'm going to refrain from mentioning the band name, though, since it
was not overall the topnotch performance I'd been led to anticipate.
But, I figure everyone has offnights, too, so no need to rub it in, I
feel. Still, there were a number of great moments, and before long,
the smallish crowd [lots of nightlife competition this week around
here, and after all, as it was for Smokey-Joe, this joint is outaways
at the end of a dirt road in the woods] were groovin' in their seats
or booty-shakin' on the floor. No one sat in with the band, least of
all me, but everyone had a fun time as only live, jive and high-five
music can provide.

Bottom line, this service Danny gives the harmonica community, not to
even mention his handling of the SPAH website and those of numerous
players we all know and love, is stupendous in its helpfulness and
scope. And we all should remember to thank him from time to time.
But, if you know Danny, you know why he keeps at it, despite our
failure to express gratitude more often... his dedication arises out
of caring heart as big as all the outdoors and wilderness jukejoint
parking lots everywhere!

Still, it feels good to say, "Thanks, Danny!" once in awhile... and
once again, in fact!!!

Thanks, BassHarp!! ;)
Much Love and Respect,
Bobbie
