Hi,
The Sp20's with the brass nails (actually escutcheon pins) are ones made
prior to the mid-80's, when these, like the GM's, were all held together
this way. Getting these nails out was one pain in the butt. Besides, the
older ones used, according to Rick Epping, a thinner, harder brass, with
somewhat shorter reeds, and the older ones made during the 80's aren't as
good as today's stock presently is (much like the HM MB's).
