First, Birthday greetings go out to list members Jerry Lee Tyner, who was
born on this day in 1938 and to John Thaden, who was born on this day in
1952.  Both have been frequent contributors with insights into the harmonica
that we all look forward to. Happy Birthday!!!!

Blues harmonica player Tommy Gary was born on this day in 1919.  Gary began
playing professionally as a youngster, first with Son Borum and then for a
while with Sleepy John Estes during the 1930's and later again in the
1960's.

Bluesman Birmingham Jones was born on this day in 1937.  Jones began as a
sideman, playing sax with folks like Elmore james and JB Lenoir before
picking up the harmonica and leading his own groups.

Rock singer and sometimes harmonica player David Johansen was born on this
day in 1950.  Johansen was the frontman for The New York Dolls and later
re-invented himself as Buster Poindexter.  He plays the harmonica
occassionally.

Louisiana Blues guitar and harmonica player Silas Hogan died on this day in
1994.  Hogan began playing the harmonica in the 1920's and though his career
was sporadic, he worked professionally until shortly before his death.
