Yup - never open an email attachment you received unexpectedly.

PERIOD!

ALWAYS ask the sender for verification, even if it's your own mother.
Viruses counterfeit names and send themselves out.

Microsoft and other large companies do not email patches.  Most have
download sites.  Microsoft has auto-update built into many of its products,
and can optionally download and/or install these automagically.
