Re: Pick up the Pieces (Average White Band)

Yeah, I do. I play it on a diatonic. The song has 2 parts the "head" and
"solo: the head is based on an F Dorian scale, the solo on Bb Dorian. I
usually do the head in 2nd on a Bb and the solo in 3rd on an Ab. You can also
do the solo on an Eb but you're not gonna get a lot of the low notes, unless
you use a low tuned Eb. The song actually plays best on an Ab solo tuned harp,
both head and solo, no such harp made, you gotta re-tune one yourself. You
could do it on a G chrom with the button held in but it's hard to get the
attack right with a chrom, the more dynamic response of a diatonic seems to
work better. This is the kind of material that would work great on the new
omnibender harp when ever it comes out. I don't have any tab but I think I
have a little chart of the head lying around somewhere, I'll have to find it.
I could probably tab out the head, gimme some time. You're on your own on the
solo. When playing the head in 2nd work on getting that minor 3rd bend right
or it will sound too "major!!"

P.S. I'd like to see the sheet music when you get yours, if ya know what I
mean.

Cya,
Don D.
