Toots Thielmans

Went to hear Toots tonight at Severance Hall ( in a smaller theater within
the concert hall) in Cleveland with Kenny Werner on piano. It was sublime.
Some of the finest, must beautiful and subtle music I've heard in a long,
long time.
They played the music of Gershwin, Miles, Trane, Jacques Brel, etc.
Toots is 80! Catch him while you can. He mused about some of the great
players he performed with who are gone. He's already recovered from one
stroke, he said.
BTW, it's often said that many star jazz musicians tour with younger players
who are not their musical peers. Not so with Werner -- a superb and mature
player worthy of sharing the stage with a master such as Toots.
I floated out of the hall.
