re: New Artists

hola a todos,

well... i'd wanted to wait on this but... i've been planning to review a
new CD i really dig called "Empty Wallet" by Ryan Hartt and the Blue Hearts
(www.ryanhartt.com). these guys do kick ass "jump blues" and swing, but are
East Coasters. Ryan Hartt plays in the vein of William Clarke and Rod
Piazza, but music choice is different and Ryan is not some carbon copy harp
player. i love these guys live and i recommend their CD. i'll still try to
get that review out though...
Hazmat Modine is a local NY city band i love also. Wade Schuman leads the
group with quirky musical taste. they have a demo CD out now as well and
i'll try to get up a review on that one. but, if you like quirky americana
music played by 2 harps and a tuba (there's guitars and drums too...), these
may be your kind of guys.
also, many of you already know Bob Meehan. he's mostly known as a
bluegrass player, but recently he's been into irish tunes. if i'm lucky,
he'll record sometime soon, as i really dig hearing him play them jigs and
reels. there used to be a little gig in NY where he played, but no longer :(
off the top of my head, i can't think of too many others. i hear the harp
player from Junkyardmen is doing some beautiful stuff in Memphis. i'm sure i
have other not-so-well known harp players in my cd collection, but i'm
drawing a blank.

  anyway...
