Blues harmonica player William Clarke was born on this day in 1951.  During
his all-too-brief career, Clarke took Blues chromatic harmonica playing to
new heights utilizing the things he learned from the old masters and using
new things he had mastered on the instrument.  Clarke may be gone, but his
work stands as some of the best Blues chromatic playing out there.

Rock singer and harmonica player John Popper was born on this day in 1967.
Popper's made a real impression on the world of Rock music with his mastery
of the harmonica.  His lightning fast leads and long jams with the band
Blues traveler as well as on his solo album and guest appearances are
opening the eyes of many to further possibilities for the harmonica.

Blues harmonica pioneer William McKinley "Jazz" Gillum died on this day in
1966.  He had been playing professionally since he was foutrteen and after
moving to Chicago he became one of the pioneers of the emerging Chicago
Blues style.  He died after being shot during an argument.
