Kim Wilson's Influences

Got my hands on a copy of Kim's "Lookin' for Trouble".

I'm not excited about this release. Kim's playing is always good, but here
sounds like he is resting comfortably (almost lazily) on old ideas rather than
kicking forth with energy (as is all over the "Ludella" project). His
instumental "F Fat" is the first one that I found predictable in that I'd heard all
these ideas played in older tunes with more fire.

However, the reason for this post is old the thread concerning this CD,
applauding Kim's vocal stylizing.

I've a collection called "T-Bone Walker, The Complete Imperial Recordings,
1950 - 54". Very stripped down blues band sound that contemporary blues bands
are trying to duplicate. What struck me was that T-Bone sings just like Kim (or
rather, Kim sounds like T-Bone).

If you love where Kim is going with his vocals, check out T-Bone to find out
where Kim came from.
