Actually, I think this is pretty regular stuff.  I'm not sure, cause I've
never really analysed it, but I think that this is something I do all of the
time.  It's just like a fast kind of panting.  I think I developed this
technique after a couple of years of playing alto.  I never got that good,
( one of these days I'm gonna get another sax) but I got the vibrato thing
down.  Works good for harp (flute too)   It allows your lungs to act as a
resonator to get more chest tone.  At least that's what I've alway's
thought.  I've never really done a scientific study.
