    Several years ago I took a piece of minicel foam (get it from a kayak or
canoe shop)  and carved it into a shape / diameter that is comfortable for
my hands. Then I made a countersunk hole through the center so an SM57 or
SM58 slid into it snuggly. It enabled me to hold these mics as though they
are bullet shaped.

The foam is closed cell so it doesn't absorb moisture. To clean it I just
ran it through the top shelf of the dish washer.
