Hering Bluesis a nice harp that had a bad reputation for having a very short
life expectancy. This was usually attributed to its thicker reed plates. I
believe the 1923 has even thicker plates.

Hi Jay,
The Hering 1923 is using a different reed metal than the Hering Blues,
although I understand (but can't confirm at the moment) that the newer stock
Hering Blues/Golden Blues/Black Blues will also be using this new reed
material. So far, the Hering Vintage, even with its thicker plates, have
clearly outlasted anything they've ever put out as far as diatonics go, and
its longevity is not unlike a HM MB, especially when you learn to NOT play
real hard 24/7.
