Since you're clearly one of the people who's most knowledgable on this 
subject, I wonder if you'd classify players like Silver and Donaldson as bop 
phrasers--or whether they come from more of a "soul-jazz" place--all these 
definitions, of course, being pretty vague...but it suggests that Walter might have 
found a perfect niche in, let's say, one of Art Blakey's bands of Messengers, 
playing "Moanin'" or "Dat Dere..." Come to think of it, since we never got to hear 
how gorgeous that might've been, maybe someone out there who's really gone to 
school on Mr. Jacobs should jump in and fill the void...sounds wonderful 
inside my head, anyhow.
