RE: [Harp-L] armonica keys

I know you only want suggestions on three harps (but you have those now).
I would recommend for a fourth and fifth harp, a G and another A. So many
blues songs are in A that you're sure to deliver your first one a square
beating. If you're jamming along to blues CDs you'll find that many of
those songs are also in E. And since you're now carrying your A harp along
with you when you go anywhere it will become your premiere practice harp,
which makes sense because it's nice and low, has forgiving draw notes on
the low end and it's easier to bend (and not as annoying to practice on
the high end.) And if you really want to make the most of three harps, do
a little study in third position, you'll add an interesting variation to
your sound and you'll increase the amount of keys you can spontaneously
sit-in on.

Peter,
I've been playing guitar for almost 40 years, and only started playing
harp about 15 months ago. When you refer to 'cross-harp', do you mean
that you'll be playing blues? In my experience, the majority of blues
songs seem to be in the keys of E, G and A. Therefore, I would suggest
that you pick up harps in the keys of A, C and D.
