  This is uncanny. I've had exactly the same experience. I have 
arthritis in my hands and tried a midget mike. I take off my wedding 
band, slip the mic THROUGH it and replace the band. My battery pack is 
9 volts and I use the ones which no longer work in my smoke detectors 
(which seem to prefer to signal/screech a need for a battery change 
when STILL at 1/2 power). I carry several and never needed to change 
one during a set. P.S. I put a potentiometer ON the power 
supply....works ...... smo-joe
