FYI - James Conway gave a neat little discussion of the use of tongue swithing at his Filisko's Teach-In table at SPAH this year. He had an Irish tune that required tongue switching to play at speed, in his case blazing fast. I believe Jim said that he uses tongue switching extensively to be able to play as fast amd cleanly as he does. And as for classical, let's remember that Bonfiglio has long been an ardent harp-l advocate of learning tongue switching - necessary for classical but very applicalble to blues, Irish, and probably those balzing country riffs we discussed recently.

Rick, nice summary of the various effects/techniques where tonguing is an integral part.
