RE: [Harp-L] re: Bob Dylan

I'm sitting here reading from Charlie McCoy's ALL-American Harp... page 4...

(Bob Johnson-wrote songs for Elvis movies) invited him to CBS Studios 1965 when Charlie went to World Fair... "He (Bob) was recording Bob Dylan. When I arrived and introductions were made, Bob told me that he had one of my records. I was really surprised by that. He said he would like me to play on the song that he was about to record. He was going to play the harp, so he asked if I would play some acoustic guitar fills.
That song was called 'Desolation Row', and the album Highway 61 Revisited. I think we got along pretty good..."

Hey Jp,

Good Point, Charlie McCoy wasn't playing Bass on Highway 61 Revisted,
but he was on Guitar!
That was Harvey Brooks (then listed as Harvey Goldstein) on Bass. Al Kooper
on Organ and the Late Great Paul Griffin on Piano....and of course
Bloomer...what a great band...Charlie played Bass I think on some later
sessions for Dylan ie: Rainy Day Woman...Bass/Trumpet
ciao, rob
