Re: [Harp-L] re: rhythm playing

in another thread BBQ Bob mentioned the need for
good rhythm. i know this has come up before, but it's
something i was thinking about just recently. i have a
metronome (an in ear thing i pretty much hate) and in
terms of when i'm just playing, by myself or with
others, i THINK i have good rhythm, but how can i be
sure?

You can test it with the free software program Audacity. Play along with a metronome close to the mike and you a bit far away while recording with Audacity. Then just look and see if your playing lines up with the metronome. The example at this link shows a shuffle (chug) that goes out of time. http://trinity.psnw.com/~dlmurray/images/time1.JPG
