Open letter to Harp-L and Johnny T, Only Shorter than the Original

Before I bow to popular demand and shut up, a few simple points.

1.) "Take it outside" is not an ambiguous phrase. And you know it's not, or
you wouldn't have thrown that cliched gun/knife quote at me. So I advise you
to restrict your big throwdown moments to Yahoo lists, about which you are
extremely knowledgable. (For instance, some of us are so ignorant that we don't
know why it's "clumsy," "ill-mannered," and whatever other redundant word you
used, to make whatever hideous mistake I made with HTML. Why not correct
people's mistakes instead of using them for more verbal ammo?)

2.) You make reference to my children, and whether or not I impress them.
Is this in any way pertinent to this list? If so, how? And what makes you
feel qualified to speak about my children? Sophomoric as you may be, you still
must know that--after I made an attempt to put this whole freakin' thing to
rest--saying that "I doubt very much that you impress your children" goes WAY
over the line; that it would earn you a...let me respect your delicate
sensibilities...a tushy-kicking in most situations. How dare you? I find that kind of
(attempted) insult MUCH more obscene than a reference to sex.

3.) Thanks to the many people who contacted me off-list to warn me about
this stuff, or to express support. It's a sad commentary that people like you
have imposed yourself so completely on the group at large that people admit
they're afraid to express a contrary position--because they know that guys like
you fight in a pack, and fight dirty to boot (see children reference above.)

4.) I've got to work. Good luck, keep an open mind, and the next time
someone with another way of looking at the world comes along, cut him a little more
slack. You might learn something--though, admittedly, it won't be about HTML
procedures or the ever-fascinating issue of reed thickness.

Cheers,

Johnny T
