Re: [Harp-L] Regular D harps

am I the only one that has 4 Blow go flat 20-1 versus 4 draw going flat?
4 blow, being the enabler reed, takes the brunt of the abuse of the often used 4 draw bend.
-no?

And here I was thinking it was me. I have a D harp Tim Moyer made for
me, one of his T-bones, which is actually a retuned C harp, and unlike
most of the other D harps I play at jams (bluegrass jams, unamplified,
so I have to play pretty loud) the 4-draw is still sounding an E, as
opposed to the sour Eb found on the 4-draw of the D harps in my drawer
full of castaways.

Almost every harp that has gone bad on me has been a reg. D harp. Usually I blow out the 5 hole draw or at least make it play very flat. This has been true for Hohner MS reeds (Blues harp), Special -20's, and MB's. Since it usually only happens on the "D" harps, it has been interesting to follow the Harp-L members thoughts. I had always thought is was only because I was improperly cranking down on the 5-draw. This has been one reason I've never ordered a harp from Joe Filisko....I was afraid I'd automatically blow out the 5-draw with my bad technique.
