Some folks that are extremely dedicated to the instrument make money as
harp 'techs', meaning they customize harps, sometimes build their own
custom harps, etc. Just a select few can make a good buck doing this
though, as there are only so many harmonica players and then only so
many who are good enough to take advantage of or be able to afford these
expensive mods. If you're the business type, there are web sites that
specialize in selling harps and harp-related stuff
(http://www.harphouse.com).

The easiest way to make a buck off the harp is to get good enough to be
in a band and make some scratch part-time. Usually, you need some other
'talent' such as singing since few bands have dedicated harp players.
Some cats though, especially (since you said you are young) Jason Ricci
(http://www.jasonricci.net) work hard enough to be good enough to make a
full-time living from the harp. Jason's a young dude who is revitalizing
the instrument in not only the traditional blues, but the sound of
today's music as well. He's touring, check his site for a date/club near
you. I think the harp is starting to find it's way into a lot of the
newer music that the young folks are coming out with (i.e. "Move On" by
Jet).
