[Harp-L] Crossroads

I do believe Sonny Terry played harp through some of the movie, Crossroads.
My account through Emma and Sonny was that Quincy Jones had always loved
Sonny's playing and style, and wanted him for the part, but could not find him for
about 3 months. Sonny was just home in Long Island, and eventually they h
ooked up. It was when Sonny was ill and within a few years of his passing. After
60 years of playing on the streets, clubs, having basements of clubs as
dressing rooms at times, Sonny was treated like the king he was by Mr. Jones.
Limo picked him up with personal aid, first class flights, nothing but the best
for the greatest. It was great to hear someone left us on an up note, not the
usual, bluesman drinks self to death, or dies lonely and broke with no one
at their funeral. When the great Larry Adler was asked on a talk show who he
respected and thought was a great harp player, he immediately said, Sonny
Terry.
