Not to mention the fantastic 4th position capability, and
the clean intonation of the A note.

You also get a clean intonation of the Bb note which is big! That first bend is really unstable, really hard to nail it in tune every time. Also it took me a lot of effort to get good tone on that hole. I would have to say that this is this is the hardest skill to acquire.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, I sugest you download Bendometer or try a tuner and see how you do. I cannot phantom someone doing this well without having spent hours and hours working on this hole. Please don't e-mail me and tell me it was no problem or I may have to send you a letter bomb ;-).

BTW, you may not be out of tune, but you may not be hitting the note you think you are hitting.

Pierre.

Paddy-Richter tuning is one of the "standards" I use :)

I seldom play blues with this tuning, not only because
of the missing IV chord, but the 3rd hole bend is now
limited to a semitone, the B to Ab legato is gone, which
is a major drawback to me.

For 2nd position, the missing IV chord is replaced by ii
chord. For 1st position it is more fun, You can play a
I-vi-ii-V7 progression in a limited manner. When you lose
something, you'll always get something else back.

Not to mention the fantastic 4th position capability, and
the clean intonation of the A note.

IMO, Paddy-Richter might not play better blues in the
traditional style, but it sure opens another door for
many styles.
