[Harp-L] Re : Do you move your mouth or your harp? <==<<- YEP BOTH !

Richard Hunter sez .

Except :

" That said, as I reported from the Buckeye Harmonica Festival in 1999, I saw Howard Levy play there, and I was astounded at the speed and precision with which he was able to play by moving his head. "

Hurricane sez :

Dis iz a gno brainer .

If your neck hurts your doing it wrong ....

If you consider what Richard Hunter just wrote ( and this guys knows his stuff ! ) then inquiring minds should be going . . . . .

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ? Speed and precision ? Yeah I want some of dat ....

As for myself [ Hurricane Ramón ], I began learning on my own how to do this kind of stuff since the mid 1970's .

Listen here at Mark Purintun's site where the song is posted that I back up Chan Romero's composition " America " posted by Mark's kind courtesy at his cool harmonica site :

Hint :

Consider this fact :

The fastest and shortest distance between two points on a harmonica comb's face is a straight line right .

....... ¡ No !..............

. . . . . . . ¡ Wrong ! ..........

- - - - - - - - - - - ¡ It's more like a right angle(s) ! - - - - - - -

You have to think outside the box on this one , Howard Levy is charging serious bucks on this one ( and other aspects harmnonica ofcourse ) and I'm just cracking up now as I know many who read this are going :

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ? Again to dem selves.

Try and think this through , if you do it will benefit you if you don't wellllllllllllll ..........

Shucks fellas & gals .... it ain't nothin bud a thang you figure out , I did it a long time ago to add speed to my chops and it works . But , if your neck hurts when doing this your doing it wrong plain and simply put ( ¿ or your are Quaismoto ? LOL ) .

Howard Levy and guys like him & myself sit up hours at night trying to visualize every aspect of making our chops improve as effectively and efficiently as possible , we think of stuff all day long 24/7/365 and 366 on a leap year . IT'S WHAT WE DO .

To you who are serious about this , start wood sheddin and pay yer dues like Howard , others and myself have or pay Howard too show ya Heh heh

------ or me =====

Heck , I'll take you money ! ! !

51 years at it ( on my birthday this September 6th , somebody better wish me a happy birthday too ! ! ! :) brothers & sisters that's what I'm talkin bout .

Listen to some of the chops I laid down on this little number at Mark Purintun's web site

It's got speed and --- I use what I describe as a head & hand shot motion ( my name for it ) to go to the higher registers at times from the bottom or visa versa , it's not the best example of it but nerver the less it's there if you just take time to L-i-s-t-e-n .

One note to consider :

I have had a severe neck condition for more than 38 ears ( big time hoiten stuff with a name for it longer than my email address and it did not stop my athletics either ) and it never ever hoit me to do this , so there is a way .

. . . .and if you have the will ............

Again here's my disclaimer if your a weekend warrior , I still loves ya guys & gals , in all reality I am as you are still in my heart as I remember the time spent in frustration in the beginning of learning things harmonica but , remember this too :

" Getting there is half the fun " ,

So's enjoy the ride dudes & dudettes I did .

Once the discovery period is over , you will find something missing in your life so enjoy that ride . I miss those days where I was so engrossed trying to figure out the simple and standard stuff . I miss those moments of " ahhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa " when I learned one of the rudimets , the " ahhaaaaaaaaas " get fewer and fewer as time goes passing on in your musical life as you add " stuff " to your harmonica maniac quiver .

Lately I have been getting off on my guitar discovery stuff - - - man o man is it addicting and at 54 going 55 it is so nice to re experience that feeling once again in this man's life ..

Sincerely :

Hurricane Ramón
