[Harp-L] re: minor key harp

There's a lot of choices depending on the melody. Try these 4: Ab, Bb, F or a
minor key harp. Lee Oskar minor key harps are labeled for 2nd position so get a
C minor harp. Depends on the song and the melody.

A lot of minor key blues really emphsize the G, Bb C in the riff. 2nd position
is good for that stuff (Messing with the Kid, Smokestack Lightning etc).2nd
position would be an F harp.

A lot of Junior Wells tunes sound good in 3rd position. That's a Bb harp. Listen
to almost everything on HooDoo Man Blues.

Some minor stuff sounds good in 5th position--an Ab harp. 5th position isn't
very hard once you get a grasp of where the notes are--not much bending. This
is good for stuff like Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing".

Then there's songs like "Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone" and Stand Up for
Your Rights" that lay out beautifully on a minor key harp.

Get your guitarist to play the melody. Take your harp, try and find the melody.
You'll find most of the melody on any of the harps but one will easier, more
fluid, less thinking. That's the one you use.
