Re: [Harp-L] Still looking for infos about Jeffrey Carp

Hi Gorky

I don't have much in the way of first hand knowledge of Jeff Carp, but a way back I corresponded briefly with Stephen Schneider and I'll quote from that ...

<quote>
You put me in mind of another semi-obscure James Cotton-influenced guy, in case you hadn't heard much of him--Jeffrey Carp, who plays the chromatic on Muddy's "All Aboard" on the Fathers and Sons stuff and is on some of Wolf's tracks from then too. He was apparently playing with Earl Hooker when Earl & his band backed up John Lee Hooker on If You Miss 'Im . . . I Got 'Im, which I guess didn't get reissued until recently. Most everything on it's in A or E, if not everything, but it might be the most of Carp that you can get on record easily. I think I got that at Bluebeat too.
Yeah, Jeff Carp - in my attempts to rediscover my record collection, I came across a couple of LPs that he played on: "Funk. The Last of the Great Earl Hooker / featuring Jeff Karp" (Blues on Blues BOB 10002), and "Sam Lay in Bluesland" (Blue Thumb BTS-14).
<end quote>

Haven't heard much from Stephen lately ... Hi you out there?
If you're real serious, maybe Sam Lay would be a source for info. Hope this helps some.

If someone knows something about him, or have seen him live(It should be 30 years ago cause he died
in the 70's) i would be glad you share your experience.
Thanks again

Gorky
