[Harp-L] Re: Milestones

Chris M. says to strive for:

>1. be able to play any note at will ie; draw bend six
>without hitting
>the draw six first

>2. jump from one note to any other note on the
>instrument.

>3. Octaves and other split intervals

>4. be able to the play the same line or riff in all
>three octaves.

>5. bent octave ie; draw bend 3(Ab) and draw bend
6(Ab)>or draw bend 3
>(A) and draw 6(A) etc....

>6. be able to fluently switich between tongueblock
>and pucker

>7. Overblow

I'm practicing most of these but #5 Bent Octaves was a
surprise. I didn't know this was even possible. I
assume that Chris meant that both notes are played
simultaneously and he wasn't simply referring to
hitting the draw 3 bends accurately. Doesn't
constricting the throat for bending at one hole
necessarily cause the other hole to be bent as well?
Chris, if you don't mind, please elaborate.
