Get better tubes:
Tell him you want to be set up with some NOS tubes for a fender
bassman. Plug 'em in and rebias the amp - this is a great page for
learning how on your new Bassman LTD. The page is for the Hot Rod
Deville but it is exactly the same as the basssman ltd. If you don't
want to deal with rebiasing then at the very least get some NOS
preamp tubes - as you look at the back of the amp the tubes to the
far right should be this configuration 12ax7 12ax7 12ay7 - this is
how they were in the original 1959 bassman.
