  Weren't you at Filisko's workshop in Trossingen?
  If so, you probably remember how he showed tongue block technique, using a device he made with holes in it.
   
  About bending and syllables; I always mention the word "cowboy", and ask them to repeat the "oy"-part in a slow motion fashion to get a feel for how the tongue goes backwards.
