Re: [Harp-L] Re: Roller Coaster

Hi Jonathan

"Successfully" I guess is a subjective matter, but several people have recorded full versions:
Dennis Gruenling on "Up All Night"
Mark Hummel on "Golden State Blues" (The last 4 minutes of 'Stockholm Blues')
Rick Germond (as 'Primordial Slim') on "Job Striles Sings and Plays"

Annie Raines quotes pretty much all of it in a different key on "Goin' Home" ('Lookin' Good')
Magic Dick gets off a few notes of it in a different key on "Bluestime" but the track is 90% 'I Got To Go'

IMHO Dennis has all the notes (and more - nice improv!), Primordial Slim got the feeling.

All the Best,
Staggerin' Jim

"Yup, with that extra day we can teach a brand new player how to play Rollercoaster in 10th position using all averblows.."

Has anyone here successfully played "Roller Coaster"? It is BY FAR my favorite Little Walter song! I'm years away from even attempting it myself, but I'd love to hear some covers of it.
