[Harp-L] RE: Update about that harp kid invited on stage with Jason Ricci

Hey guy's, last week was a blast!!!! Zack doesn't like the kids on the playground to know he plays harp because they think it isn't "COOL". When those kids see the picture on my site he'll be running from all the girlies just like the Beatles and rightfully so! What a nice young kid with a very musical mind. I gave Zack a hot little mic that fits his hands, but the real treat is the custom mic I'm going to make him with the words "Cadillac Zack".There's a very good guitarist in So. California with the same name and he's gonna' have to find another name because there's a new Cadillac on the block. take care you guys,stevewww.thunderharpmics.com --- On Sat 10/22, Colin Epstein < colin_epstein@xxxxxxxxx > wrote:From: Colin Epstein [mailto: colin_epstein@xxxxxxxxx]To: harp-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx: Sat, 22 Oct 2005 19:09:32 -0700 (PDT)Subject: [Harp-L] RE: Update about that harp kid invited on stage with Jason RicciI just had to pipe in after reading Catherine's post.I got to
meet Zach at the Del Mar Jam Camp lastweekend, and it was a blast to see someone so youngworking so hard and sounding so good. At the finalnight's concert, he got up there with severalinstructors including Michael Peloquin, Jason Ricciand Nico "Froggy" Fouquet to belt out a rockingversion of the "I Can't Turn You Loose" vamp the BlueBrothers always used as their intro. It was like ahorn section, only all harps, with young Zack blowingaway in the middle of it all. Not bad company for akid starting out on his instrument. He'll be aninstructor at Jam Camp in no time. A number of us"older folks" were envious at what a great head starthe was getting. The Jam Camp itself was a fantastic experience, and Ilearned tons in three days of my first actualharmonica lessons after years of playing. Seeing as Istarted first thing with a one-on-one from JasonRicci, then absorbed tons of knowledge and music fromall the great players and my fellow students, and thenwrapped it up by arranging to
continue lessons withthe Mighty Mr. Peloquin here in Oakland, I came awaymore than glad I showed up.Two days later I was jamming with friends and doing itin 3rd position for the first time. Just having hadFroggy show me what he could do on only holes 4,5, and6 had clicked a light on in my head about 3rdPosition. While I have tons left to learn, I feellike I'm taking a strong first step.So I recommend Jon Gindick's Jam Camps to anyoneinterested. It's a great supportive atmosphere forany skill level, and all these top-notch players weremore than happy to help any one out with any question, now matter how basic. The way they all shared notjust their knowledge, but their passion for the musicwas extremely inspiring. (I will never forget howFroggy got the whole room strutting around, blowingand whooping their heads off) They even carried it sofar as to join students too nervous to get up on theirown at the final night's jam concert, throwingtogether duets and such on the spot. It
was a blastwatching Jason Ricci do a sultry version of "I'm Justa Playboy" with Genoa, a woman student who wiggled himall over the stage when he was singing and she wasn'tplaying. All in all, great stuff. I'm more fired up to playand learn than ever. And young "Cadillac" Zach justrocked.--Colin> > From: Catherine Martucci > Subject: [Harp-L] RE: Update about that harp kid> invited on stage with Jason> Ricci> Date: Sat, 22 Oct 2005 12:22:49 -0400> To: harp-l@xxxxxxxxxx> > Zach Gaviria is the 10-year-old boy from NJ who> played with Jason Ricci's> band in NJ (Mexicali Blues, 7/2005).
