[Harp-L] RE: LD Miller info. & thanks and request for song suggestions

Hmmm,

First of all I'd like to say I find LD's skills pretty amazing for his age.

As for song selection - He's already shown the lightning fast chops. As Piers is apt to put it - "What else have you got?"

I think the Bonnie Raitt version of "Runaway" would be a good one. It's well known, fairly contemporary with broad appeal, and would allow LD to show off in a variation of styles - Slow to fast. It also requires switching harps during the song which would serve to enhance everyone's opinion of his overall skill. (IMHO)

Harp On!

Hi Nancy,

Thanks so much for your post regarding LD Miller
and his adventures with America's Got Talent! You
gotta know that we're ALL rootin' for him to do
well.

You asked for a suggestion for JD's next 90 seconds
onstage... here's my 2 cents.

Good to keep the masses happy with that
in-your-face speed-drill playing... BUT this time
use the first 30-40 seconds as a slow-blues
introduction following cord changes with some
soulful harp and featured JD vocals... then, have
the song kick-it-up a notch and finish with his now
signature speed-demon crowd-pleasing licks.

That should show the judges that he's not just a
"one-trick-pony" yet still get the crowd onto its
feet with a hot finish.

I wish JD all the BEST luck in the world, and it
would certainly be great to meet him at SPAH, but I
undersand completely if he can't make it. There's
always next year.

Stay well,

Harpin' in Colorado,
--Ken M.
