Re: [Harp-L] Stupid question about Digitech processors

Fernando's comments below are generally on the money. In particular, I
agree completely that it's often better to assign the expression pedal
to something besides volume. Assigning it to various effect levels, for
example, makes it easy to bring effects, reverb, delay, etc. in and out
of the harp sound, at any level desired. Very cool. The expression
pedal makes the extra money for an RP200 ($50 more than an RP100) well
worth paying.

Regarding the RPx400, it should be noted that using the RPx400's various
USB capabilities requires that you go through setup on your computer. I
bought a used RPx400 from a dealer last month. I tried to install the
various software (Xedit for editing patches, USB audio drivers to use
the RPx400 as an audio interface, etc.) on 3 different computers running
Win XP. I never did succeed in getting the RPx400 software to work on
two of those machines. The pedal went back to the dealer after 3 days,
during which time it had violated my one-hour rule (any purchase I make
has to be up and running, making usable sounds, within an hour of
opening the box) by a factor of about 3.

Not everyone has setup problems, of course. But setup is a lot easier
when you're just plugging the mic into the pedal, and the pedal into the
amp.

Thanks and regards, Richard Hunter
