Among new, readily available stick mics, I like the Shure 545SD.  It's got a nice, even tone with plenty of body, and the switchable impedance gives you options.  Use it low Z into a (bigger) amp with a XLR>1/4 inch plug and you can turn the amp up to 7 (results may vary) for a BIG sound.  Or use it Hi Z into any amp (same cord XLR>1/4) and you get a hot mic with plenty of body and clarity.  I don't know for a fact, but I'd venture a guess it may rival a SM57 for vocal capabilities as well.

Just wondering if there's any kind of concensus here.  Most of the harp mic talk seems to focus on bullet styles, with a preference toward vintage.  But is there any one stick mic that stands out head and shoulders above the rest?  SM57, perhaps?

My amplified journey is just beginning, and I'm looking for direction.
