Re: [Harp-L] Miller is a 12-Year-Old Harp Monster

That kid put on one heck of a show! I am not a fan of his riffing, but he's definetly on to something. Good for him! I always go to bed happier after I hear about harp players getting some love.

No matter what your harp taste, things like this lead to better situations for all of us. It gives the insturment more mainstream appeal and creates more players and listeners. It can lead to new styles and in some cases raise the bar for what is considered excellent (either in comparison or contrast).

I never would have thought we'd have two new "famous" harmonica players pop up like this. Hopefully the love will spread to those who have truley mastered a unique voice on the humble ten hole.

  Mike

Bill Hines posted a question about wireless rigs
for bullet mics and included a link to a clip from
the "America's Got Talent" TV show, but no one
commented about the 12-year-old Harp Monster who
was using that rig. Yikes!!

That Miller kid has got some great chops and
incredible speed licks for one so young... and
yeah, he sure as hell was showing off with pure
flash stuff.

But he's 12, and he was playing great blues harp on
national TV in front of MILLIONS of people. Did his
act get picked to move into the semi-finals? Puts
that Taylor Hicks dude to shame.

Makes me ill that I've been playing harp more than
twice as long as he's even been ~alive~ and I can't
touch his speed. Oh well. Just think what could do
on harp in about 10 years.

Has anyone invited that boy to SPAH? I wanna take
lessons. ;-)
