Re: [Harp-L] Blockbuster Online

Yeah, but maybe somebody will rent the DVD, fall in love with it and go out
and buy a copy.
And if Blockbuster rents enough harp videos, maybe it will KEEP renting them
and even more people will trip over them and rent one.

I'm impulsive. If I see a DVD or CD by one of my favorite players, I don't
hesitate to get my own personal copy. I own several dozen harp-piano-guitar
videos from Homespun, Mel Bay and Hal Leonard and Jamey Aebersold -- some I
bought retail at Elderly Instruments in Lansing, Michigan; only very few I acquired
as review copies for AHN and others I bought at discount as the VHS versions
were being replaced by DVD versions.

Without knowing which DVDs you're talking about, I couldn't say if rental
will hurt sales or spread the word. I once found a Paul Butterfield performance
VHS recording from the rental collection at a going-out-of-business sale at a
music store.

There really is no hard and fast rule; if libraries and brick-and-mortar
Blockbuster's carried more instructional videos, maybe more people would get
seriously interested in the harp.

I'm for anything that gets the word out.
