Re: [Harp-L] Pro Junior extra pitch problem

I've run into this phenomenon myself with a couple of old PA amps ( a knight-allied and a masco, to be more specific). they sound great except for the "ghost tone" in the higher registers. the effect can be diminished greatly but not completely by dialing the treble down, but then they are all honk and no bark. not a very satisfactory solution, as they still don't make the sound I'm looking for, and persist in making the sounds you describe, although at a lower intensity. It's been my experience that the undesireable noises are more pronounced when I really lean into it as opposed to playing more softly.

I've done a little bit of speaker swapping and I've found that the weird octave effect is more pronounced with some speakers more than others. I'm still fooling around with it, but I think the fault lies more in the speaker than in the electronics.

is it possible that your PJ had the speaker switched out to a replacement that is rated at too low a power-handling capability?

good luck, and let me know what your tech finds out...
