re: [Harp-L] AKG wireless system

In regards to:
I'm considering getting this unit because quite frankly i'm sick of stepping on my cable and having it pop out during asolo.****Why don't you forget the guitar cable and just use the screw on cable connector? You'd have to pull the whole mic out of your hand.
Some facts about Rod's mics/cable and why he uses cords on stage from a been there--tested that standpoint (find some pictures or see him play and notice the length of his cable and he's not the only one who does this). Let's use Shure's specs for the 705A Ultra "Rocket" Crystal from 1939 and all crystals have one thing in common and you'll notice this.
"The 705A will have an output of -53db below one volt per microbar at the terminals of a 7 foot cable."
Now, cable length and output specs.7' -53db25' -55db50' -58db75' -60db etc etcYou got it, they loose their power output. Not many use a cable longer than 15 feet, but you see the decrease in power and along with that is low end performance. Anyone who plays and tours as much as him and sells mics would like keep the best crystals for himself because they do wear out and break from drops, heat and humidity etc. and real hot toned crystals aren't as readily available as yesteryear, so max performance is what he tries to attain. And he owes a great deal to the electronics wizard, John Kinder. John builds and Rod plays and listens for the final ear test. It's the only way.
