Hi All
I have to disagree a bit. I've had a bunch of G harps , all with the Blow 7 
bad. Now, with a concentration of failures like that, I sure didn't have a 
stash of Blow 7s sitting aroung for transplantation, so I utilized a variety 
of different reeds that fit the slot successfully.
Long story short - one of the advantages of working with detached reeds is 
that you have BOTH sides of the reed to work on AND the pad. You have two 
surfaces to work for tuning, and you can work the reed and/or the pad to 
seat the read deeper into the slop toward the base. I've noticed that merely 
PUSHING the base of the reed into the slot with a compensatory curve results 
in a reduced dynamic range worse than stock.
By messing with the 'wrong' reeds, I learned a heck of lot how to make my 
harps better.
