Re: [Harp-L] RE: hohner 64 chromonica

I have a pre-1955 model. Had it rebuilt by Bill romel. He told me that the older models have a thicker reedplate, anmd are worth the rebuild. It now has a lucite comb, because the wood comb was cracked. It is my best sounding chromatic, at least to my ears.

If they're new, compare with retail prices from sellers like
Coast2coast music and reduce price accordingly.

If they're older, first establish the vintage. If they date from before
about 1955 (straight line in the slider holes (i.e. the holes inside
the mouthpiece holes) as opposed to top holes alternating with bottom,
narrow mouthpiece, red box (1950s) or rounded-top burlwood box
(pre-1950), six-pointed star inside hand-held emdallion dseign on
covers (per-1937)) they may have value for those who prefer the
older-style designs.
