Hi there,

Well, don't take Rod's harp playing from the early 60s all too seriously.
All the R&B mod bands and the mod-inspired band from those days 
in the UK had their singers mess around a bit on a harmonica.
With all respect to Rod the mod, he was and still is a big hero on the mod
scene nowadays. Great voice. I've got several Steampacket records
amongst which some live stuff. No harmonica though. I am sure he
plays some harp now and actually learned to play some proper stuff
about 5 years later when hanging out with Ronnie Lane and the guys.
(other mods as it happens). They where into playing on anything that
made music no matter what it was. 
Now on to another mod from those days who has definately touched 
some harmonicas with The Lower Third, Davie Jones. Better 
known as David Bowie........ lol...

I've heard that Rod Stewart played harmonica years and
years ago when he first started out, but never
actually heard him play.

I wonder if he ever even plays harp anymore.

I always liked Rod... I saw him on Jay Leno (must've
been a week ago or more... not sure when because I
always tape Jay Leno and watch them when I get a
chance... always fun to rewind and watch some parts
over again!). He was singing the old Creedence
Clearwater Revival song "Have You Ever Seen Rain"
(looked a bit hokey with his hand doing a 'rain coming
down' thing. 

Knowing that he use to play harp, I'm always hoping
and anticpating that he pulls one out and starts
playing... but doesn't ever seem to happen.

I'm sure Buzz could play circles around Rod, even when
Rod did play harp !  Buzz gets better and better...
Rod just seems to be getting older...  but I still
like him (but not as much as Buzz!).
