Before the work of Strauss, the first part of the program held two atmospheres. The first of them, little known too the public, "Pelléas and Mélisande, op. 46", of J. Sibelius, already demonstrated how a show of exquisite expressive refinement can be made letting flow the music of natural way, undressed of any type of artifice.
In contrast, the exuberante "Concert for Harmonica" of Heitor Villa- Lobos took on a total mood change of third kind through an original composition and virtuosic demand for the soloist. This requirement was exceeded by a phenomenal Robert Bonfiglio, who had to the public in his pocket. Dominating the diverse registers, the North American musician made an exhibition that finished in an ovation, a climate of ensemble with the orchestra and the music director and in a kind of minirecital with five encores that the public cheered with enthusiasm. With such diverse works the receptivity of the audience was demonstrated for the less known repertoire. A surprising and beautiful musical evening that became a celebration.
