Subject: Re: [Harp-L] Subject: SmoJoe's version of Summertime on YouTube

Thanks, Slim and all the others who've been as blown away by his playing as
I was that night at Buckeye. But Garry and I are simply the instruments
bringing the video to your attention. Neither of us taped it...I believe it
could have been Marv Munro or Danny G ...and there has to be more video of
SmoJoe's playing that night, as well as of the other performers. As I've said
before, it was truly a magical night.

I was just determined to have Smokey's playing "heard" for once...since he
talks a good game, but is always reticent about promoting himself, so tends to
get overlooked at the conventions (in my humble opinion).

Despite my TMJ problem and after having heard him play before (he's backed
me up onstage at last year's SPAH), even I sat with jaws agape hearing what
he could do backed by Carol Beth True onstage at Buckeye 2007. And it wasn't
only me...the entire audience knew they were hearing something
special...hushed and breaking into spontaneous applause before he'd finished any number.
Just an astounding performance. I still can't believe he doesn't have CD's
out.

Knowing Smokey...y'all know he's "still" giving me arguments about this, :)

Elizabeth

Wonderful! Kudos to Smo-Joe and thanks to Elizabeth and Garry for
allowing the rest of the world to get a glimpse of this performance.

Smokey, you are one talented and overly modest individual! See you soon...

- Slim.
