RE: [Harp-L] Peavey Cherry Bomb

Yes, I have heard about it. One of my mic endorsees from Hohner's "Hall of Fame", Darrell Mansfield, was given one by Peavey to try at Anaheim, CA's NAMM Show last Feb. His intital test was that it's a good mic, but not like some of the vintage elements. He said the tone is almost identical to the newer Green Bullet, which is more midrangey without the grind factor of a good CM etc or the low end of a good crystal, ceramic or a hot dynamic....RE10, 545, 533, 10DA.
Regarding the shell design: D liked it alot with the finger grooves (it's the same as the Superlux), but to his liking the volume control is still in the wrong place.....to each his own on that. I don't mind a VC located anywhere on a mic as long as my hands don't move it while playing. I build my mics with the VC hard to move....there's certain things one can do that I won't disclose no matter what mic shell I mod :)

Great color and they'll sell them, but for 179 bucks, aside from the color scheme, I'd go with the Superlux or a GB.

By the way, Darrell gave it back to them.
